Warranty Policy

Warranty by product condition

Brand-new products

Brand-new products carry the manufacturer's warranty, subject to the manufacturer's terms, conditions and coverage. The warranty period varies by brand and product. Please refer to the manufacturer's warranty documentation supplied with your product.

Open-box products

Open-box products carry a 1-year warranty provided by JM Appliances, covering parts and labour, starting from the date of purchase.

Refurbished products

Refurbished products carry a 30-day in-store warranty provided by JM Appliances, starting from the date of purchase. These products have been refurbished by the original manufacturer.

Manufacturer warranties should not be assumed to apply to open-box or refurbished products unless this has been specifically confirmed for that item.

What the warranty covers

Warranty coverage provided by JM Appliances includes both parts and labour, subject to the applicable warranty terms.

For eligible large appliances, we will arrange for a technician to attend your home to assess and service the product. Service arrangements may depend on the manufacturer's policies and brand-specific rules.

For small appliances, you will need to bring the product to our store for inspection and service. You are responsible for transporting the product to us.

What the warranty does not cover

Unless required by law or stated by us in writing, warranty coverage excludes:

  • Physical or cosmetic damage caused after purchase, including damage caused by mishandling
  • Damage resulting from improper use, accidents, abuse, neglect, or failure to follow the manufacturer's instructions
  • Problems or damage caused by incorrect installation, improper electrical or plumbing connections, or installation performed by unauthorised individuals
  • Normal wear and cosmetic deterioration resulting from regular use
  • Damage or faults resulting from unauthorised repairs, alterations or modifications
  • Damage caused by power surges, electrical issues, water, fire, pests or other external factors
  • Consumables and accessories such as filters, light bulbs and batteries, unless specifically included in the applicable warranty
  • For open-box or refurbished products, disclosed cosmetic imperfections or signs of previous use that were identified and accepted at the time of purchase

Warranty claims are subject to inspection and to the applicable warranty terms. These exclusions do not limit any rights or remedies you may have under applicable consumer protection law.

How to make a warranty claim

  1. Contact our team at 416-208-0004, email info@jmappliances.ca, or visit our store to report the issue.
  2. Have ready: your order number or purchase invoice; the product brand, model and serial number if available; a description of the problem; and photographs or video if applicable.
  3. We will review your claim and confirm the applicable warranty coverage. We may request additional information or arrange an inspection to determine the cause of the issue.
  4. If your claim is approved, the resolution may include repair or replacement, subject to the warranty terms, product availability and applicable consumer protection law.

A refund is not automatic. Warranty claims must be submitted within the applicable warranty period, so please keep your purchase invoice and warranty documentation.

Product inspection and condition

Brand-new products are sold according to the condition and description stated on their product page. Manufacturer quality-control procedures and warranties may apply.

Open-box products may be inspected for visible condition, completeness and basic operation before sale. Inspection procedures vary by product.

Refurbished products have been refurbished by the original manufacturer. Please review the individual product listing or ask our team for details about the product's condition and refurbishment history.

Any inspection performed by JM Appliances is not a third-party certification unless explicitly stated and supported by valid documentation.

Customers are welcome to inspect eligible products in-store before completing a purchase. Please ask our team about the item's condition, included accessories and applicable warranty coverage.

Your legal rights

This warranty is in addition to your rights under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 and the Sale of Goods Act, which include an implied condition that goods are of merchantable quality. Nothing in this warranty limits those rights.
